A documentary directed by Don Argott about the story of Albert C. Barnes Foundation, the man who in the first half of the 20th century (in a time when art was not taken into account) has collected an impressive number of works of art (Impressionist and post-Impressionist), who currently leads a desperate fight to keep this unique treasure in the world.

In 1922 Albert C. Barnes created The Barnes Foundation in Lower Merion Pennsylvania, with an impressive collection of Post-Impressionist and Modern Art.

But after his death in a car accident in 1951, Barnes left the entire collection heritage in Lincoln college administration provided little works of art will not be sold or removed from exhibition ever.
With an estimated 25 billion dollars, a lot of interests started to appear around the Barnes collection after his death.

Barnes Foundation documentary shows actions 60 years after the death of its founder wants to maintain written will.
Barnes’s entire collection came into the hands of people who only want profits, a new museum will be open for submission.

A signed painting by famous painter Paul Cezanne Les joueurs de Cartes 310x174 The Art of the Steal (2009) Artists art became the most expensive work of art in the world, having been purchased at an auction, the royal family of Qatar, with a quarter billion dollars. It seems that the painting Les joueurs de Cartes” showing two men playing cards, was purchased since 2011, but the terms were confirmed. The painting was part of the private collection of Greek magnate George Embiricos, who died last year.

“Les joueurs de Cartes” (see picture above) is  a five part ofseries of paintings by the French artist Paul Cezanne in 1895, now exhibited in art galleries or in museums like Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Musee d’Orsay in Paris, Courtauld Institute of Art London, and Barnes Foundation in Pennsylvania.

The rescue operation said, “We will raise $100 million to build a new building in downtown Philadelphia for the Barnes Foundation.”

You know, to walk into the Barnes is to see the art as Barnes, for all of his greatness and all of his foibles, had it, And it is, in its way…perfection.

Matisse said it was the only sane place to see art in America. I’ll wager Matisse against Bernie Watson and Rebecca Rimel any day, and I bet Dr. Barnes would too. I think he might say, “Let Matisse speak for me”.

Interestingly, as the documentary keeps objectivity, facts are presented without blame on any side.
